FLIGHT trauma response

The symptoms listed above are some of the issues and emotions you might experience for FLIGHT Trauma Response

OCD…Obsessive Compulsive Disorder… While it does require a Medical Diagnosis, there are types/levels of OCD.  It usually centers around a certain theme and a need for things to be “just so.”

AVOIDANCE…Finding yourself doing anything but a certain task. Making excuses and finding other things to do to put off doing whatever the task is.

OVERTHINKING…Dwelling on the same thought, and it can become the focal point of your life. It is not the same as being anxious or concerned about a specific issue, but more the process of in depth thought about everything vs. a singular issue.

PERFECTIONIST…Exactly what it implies. No room for a mistakes, as that would be considered a failure.. It can be a self-placed expectation, socially-placed expectation, or another person-placed expectation of something that is truly unattainable. It also can be thought of in the familiar expressions; There is only Black and White, there are no shades of gray, or, Drawing a hard line, there is no exception.

PANIC MODE…Sudden, intense negative feelings and thoughts. Among the feelings you might experience; shaking, sweating, dizzy/faint feelings, dry mouth, rapid heartbeats or a change in pulse. It is a different sensation than feelings of apprehension over a new event or experience per se. We all may experience a mild panicked feeling over something new, but this would be at a much more pronounced level.

Some other signs of FLIGHT RESPONSE to look for are:

ANXIETY…A general feeling of unease/stress, apprehension or nervousness about an event or a situation. Anxiety also has levels: Mild, Moderate, Severe, and Panic Level. Fear and anxiety is generally the body’s alarm that something is not right.
